Sports Massage
Sports Massage is a stronger form of massage, utilizing special techniques to help alleviate stress and tension, often the result of physical activity. It can be used to prepare athletes before and after events to relieve swelling, muscle tension and to help promote flexibility to prevent injuries. Sports Massage can also be used on general injuries including work related injuries, i.e. computer tension. It is used as part of all treatments within the clinic.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
A full Western medical history is taken in addition to a full Chinese medical history to ascertain the state of the body's natural energy, called QI (pronounced chee). Once the history has been taken, a Chinese diagnosis is made and a prescription of acupuncture, patent herbs and tui-na is made. Within the history taking, pulse and tongue diagnosis are carried out to confirm the patient's state of health from a Chinese perspective.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used in the orient for many thousands of years to treat ailments, disease and injury. It is carried out using fine (one-use) sterile needles to regulate and balance the body's natural energy system (QI) This helps strengthen the body’s immune system and allows the patients own body to help repair and fight disease . The needles are inserted into various acupuncture points on meridians (channels) where the energy flows. Patients may feel a slight sensation on insertion of the very fine needle. If a patient has a needle phobia, using tui-na maybe a needle less option.
